League of Legends is a complex game with multiple paths to success: a competitive ranked system to test one’s skills; an ever-expanding roster of champions to learn and master; and a global esports scene that brings the best players together on massive stages in front of thousands of fans. But it also produces conflict, tense and toxic moments that can be difficult to defuse. It’s not just the in-game conflict of wizards and demons killing each other; it’s the way that League’s design creates conflict between people and within communities.

Like any complex activity, it takes time to learn League fundamentally. At the beginning, it’s important to understand the basics—from how much gold and XP you receive from minions to what each champion does. As a result, players are often surprised to find out that they have been missing simple aspects of the game.

While it’s tempting to play that late game of League, getting plenty of sleep is better for both your mental and physical health. It will help you avoid making mistakes and put you in a more productive mindset for work or school. And that’s not to say that you should eliminate League entirely: many gamers use the game as an escape or way to blow off steam, and it can be fun, as long as it doesn’t overtake one’s life. 롤대리
